2012!!

Welcome to the New Year! It is time for change, renewal, and celebration. The great thing about today is that yesterday is gone. You can't go back and undo things you have done, but you can embrace today and look toward the future with hope.
Build on yesterday's success and learn from yesterday's failures. Live in today.

TIME FOR 2012 TO  START WITH A BOOM!

Fall 7 times, and stand up 8

“ I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that’s precisely why I succeed.”
- Micheal Jordan

A goal without a plan is merely a wish without a hope.

1. Improve your physical ENERGY level. You can't make your goals and dreams come true if you are burned out, stressed out and running on empty. If you are dead on your feet, you are dead in the water.

2. Improve your sense of  PURPOSEE. If your heart isn't in the battle, you have lost the war way before it has begun.

3. Improve your ATTITUDE. It is impossible to make anything in your life worthwhile with a negative, self-defeating attitude. Admit to yourself that you don’t know it all and get excited about learning from the experience of others who are successful.

4. Improve your ability to SET GOALS. Without crystal-clear goals, you will simply burn up precious time and energy... with little or no progress made towards realizing your dreams.

5. Improve your ability to MAKE PLANS. Remember this simple FACT…a goal without a plan is merely a wish without a hope

6. Improve your ability to PRIORITIZE your activities that will get results. Focusing on the IMPORTANT tasks that get RESULTS that gives you the edge over your competition.

7. Improve your ability to create strong teams and interpersonal SYNERGY. Real power comes from building powerful teams of high energy positive like minded people.

8. Get and stay ORGANIZED. If your systems don't support you...redesign your systems until they do. This is the single biggest flaw in people that holds most of them back from attaining success and accomplishing their dreams and goals. If you are inefficient, you are out of the game.

9. Make OPTIMUM use of your time. Fail to Optimize your time and you will never live up to your full potential. The game will be over before you even get into the hunt.

10. Take bold ACTION to make things happen. In every area of life, it's up to you to GET the ball moving... and KEEP it rolling in the direction of your goals. Learn to continuously take Smarter Actions, and you WIN. Don't and you won't.

Holiday Award Party!

On Sunday, Bold Marketing Strategies attended an awards banquet/holiday party with 2 other Midwest offices. The banquet was hosted by StoneCreek, where served dinner, as awards were being given out. The first award went President Ashley D. Smith, for managerial excellence. Ashley received  an engraved plaque, to hang in her office.
Next, Andrew Hiatt and Rich Christman were both awarded MVP for their individual offices. Andrew earned the title of MVP for many reasons, one reason is his driven attitude.  Everyday Andrew comes to work and has a “go getter” attitude, not letting anything come in the way of his goals. He gives 100% everyday, staying focused and motivated on his goals. Andrew is on his way to achieving one of his long-term goals, to open his own office.
Our other MVP , Rich Christman comes to work ready to help other improve everyday. Rich creates and environment at work that promotes learning, and , helps others to grow professionally.  Rich is a top leader and on his way to reaching his goal of opening up an office is Denver, Co.
Adam Stoffel was recognized as the most improved in the office. Adam has been putting forth the extra effort needing to really evaluate himself, and how he can reach his goals and better his team. Adam is interviewing and training more and more every week, and his hard work has paid off in a big way!
Carlina Mina was recognized at the end of the night for all of her hard work, and contribution to the growth of  Bold Marketing in the past year. things. Carlina comes to work early, leaves late and does whatever needed to get the job done. She has been a major part in the establishment of the  company. Carlina is an invaluable member of Bold Marketing Strategies and Ashley has said she considers Carlina to be  the backbone of the company.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE FOR A GREAT JOB THIS YEAR!!!!

"Sharp People like hard times, because they grow from them"

“Sharp people like hard times because they know they can grow from them.”  Mike Rosenberg , explained to Stephanie Miller . Stepanie is one of our leaders at Bold Marketing Strategies, and she traveled this week with four other memebers of our team to the  Detroit office. Stephanie, Tiffany, Hayley and Jasimine were all selected to travel to Detroit for a chance to meet with Consultants, other Office owners, and work in a different market. The four girls arrived in Detroit on Monday, and were excited for a chance to meet with Mike Ronsenburg of the “Rosenburg Organization.” Mike talked with the girls about how to better themselves for the business, and how they can stay motivated to do so. Tiffany shared a quote that she found especially inspiring from Mike, “You can’t always have 40 Sharp people in the office. You have to train the 6’s and 7’s to be 10s” . The girls also got a chance to speak with The Director at the office, “Have fun, and be real”, was Lyndsay Carr’s advice to Hayley regarding her attitude everyday in the office.
All four girls will be returning at the end of the week and will be discussing everything they learned, and all the success the had while in Detroit! Congratulations ladies and we look forward to your return!

Ashley Smith is Winnning!!!

The co-workers of BOLD Marketing Strategies enjoyed an adventurous office night on the town. Two of the top Account Reps put together events for the Amazing Race. Included, were different word puzzles for all coworkers to solve. They drove around the city on a scavenger hunt to different locations and had to complete different tasks in order to move forward in the competition. The Amazing Race winning team consisted of Manager Ashley Smith, leaders; Darren and Phil, and our HR Director Carlina.
Ashley Smith followed up her winning streak by leading her team to another office night victory this week.  We had our first annual Bold Marketing Strategies Academic Decathlon. Events included Poetry, Math, Memory, Athletics and Art. The event which put her team over the top was a timed pumpkin carving competition. Manager Ashley Smith along with Account Reps Jon and Julian stumped the competition with their creativity and execution.
Stay tuned and check in to see if anyone can stop the dominance of the one they call Ashley Smith.

Movin' On Up

Excitement is lingering in the air here at BOLD. We are ecstatic to be able to promote one of our top marketing reps Erik Rieker, to Assistant Manager! Erik joined the BOLD Marketing team, January 20th of 2011. In just 8 short months, his ambition and drive pushed him into the position of Assistant Manager. Originally from Racine, Wisconsin, Erik graduated from the University of Indianapolis, with a Bachelors degree in Sports Management and a minor in Business Administration. Erik's athleticism and sports-mindedness has given him the desire and determination to push for what he wants. When asked about his quick promotion, Erik said "I grew up playing sports, so I realized at a young age that the only way to succeed in something was to work hard and never take a day off. I am a very motivated person. When I set out to do something, I don't stop until it's accomplished, which has helped me get where I am today".  We couldn't be happier for Erik and his success so far. We are eager to see him continue his climb up the opportunity ladder and set such a great example for our other marketing reps here at BOLD. Congratulations Erik!

A message from the executive team states "We appreciate your contributions and success over this past year and look forward to seeing you in beautiful Puerto Rico!". We cannot wait to go and relax with our fellow managers and relish our achievements so far this year.

In less than two short weeks we'll be chillin' out, maxin' and relaxin' all cool and all shootin' some b-ball outside by the pool!

*Bigger & Better Bold!*

Exciting news! Our business grew when we became partnered last month with Just Marketing Group, founded in Boston, Massachusetts, in early 2009. The president of Just Marketing Group, Justin Etter, started out as an entry level account rep. in October of 2009. His strong work ethic and determination to prosper placed him into a management position soon after. Now, Ashley Smith and Justin form the dynamic, managing partner duo that heads our organization. The office of Bold was very happy to welcome Justin and his team of five account reps, and more than excited to watch the Bold family grow. Recently returning from a conference in Nashville, Tennessee, we're getting back to business with a renewed excitement and look forward to working on future goals. So what is in store for Bold's future? Justin plans to promote two account reps. into assistant manager positions. In conjunction to that, he plans on opening two additional offices within the next year. We look forward to advancing our business with the addition to our family, and will continue to create positive, results-driven performances for our clients.

BOLD Choices

You are only one choice away from changing your life

Think about that. One choice, just one, can change your life forever. Simply put, your life today is what your choices have made it, but with new choices, you can change directions this very moment. For me, that idea alone is highly motivational because it offers tremendous hope, regardless of circumstances, for a better tomorrow.

Your life-changing choice may be to leave a negative relationship, to go back to school, to live a healthier lifestyle, to adopt a child, to start a business, to lose weight, to start a charity...just to name a few. If you have the courage to do so, you could make any one of those choices today and that choice would change your life. Sometimes it's a different kind of choice. It can be to not quit or not to give up in the face of adversity. We've all been put in those situations.

Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen received 77 rejections for their idea Chicken Soup for the Soul. They had to make a decision each time, should they throw in the towel and say enough is enough, or should they keep trying to pursue their dreams? You know the rest of the story. The 78th publisher said “yes” and they went on to sell over 100 million books.

So never forget that you are only one choice away from changing your life. Do you have the courage to make it?

Networking in Chicago

BOLD Marketing Strategies’ president, Ashley Smith, took her office to Chicago, Illinois this weekend for conferences and networking. Everyone stayed at the Hilton Hotel on Saturday evening so they had time for some networking before the conference on Sunday. Top managers and consultants from Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Kansas and Indiana were speaking at the conference.

BOLD's sales and marketing team and management team had different meetings that were tailored specifically for them depending on their years of experience and areas of expertise. The conference covered how to improve communication within the office, have critical conversations, effectively use social media, and increase advancement opportunities in the office. Pictures to come on our Facebook page!

There are many conferences held throughout the year in different locations that help the office sharpen their skills. Upcoming conferences include a trip to Nashville, Tennessee in June and Puerto Rico in September. These trips serve as a great networking tool and also an opportunity to reward the top performers.

10 Lessons to Improving Communication

“ They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” – Carl W. Buechner
There are certain key lessons about effective communication which have become crystal clear in my mind. I see them manifest in every interaction between two human beings. Here are the top 10 of these lessons:
  • Lesson #1: Communication is Like a Muscle.
  • Lesson #2: You’re Overrating Your Communication Skills.
  • Lesson #3: Good Communication Can Compensate Bad Communication.
  • Lesson #4: Talk to the Point.
  • Lesson #5. Be Clear.
  • Lesson #6: Ask!
  • Lesson #7: Be Yourself.
  • Lesson #8: Listen Instead of Assuming.
  • Lesson #9: Don’t Argue for the Sake of Arguing.
  • Lesson #10. Smile!
Lesson #1. Communication is Like a Muscle. The more you use it, the more it develops. This doesn’t mean that just by communicating you automatically improve your communication skills every time; applying certain principles and seeking to improve is also important. But the basics are in actually practicing, in interacting with people as much as you can.
Lesson #2: You’re Overrating Your Communication Skills. There are two things which happen a lot in relation with communication: one is that almost everybody agrees that most people need to improve their communication skills, the other is that almost nobody believes they have this problem. It’s very possible that your communication skills need work, and it’s best to take this into account.
Lesson #3: Good Communication Can Compensate Bad Communication. If you deal with people with bad communication skills, the situation is not hopeless. To a great extent, you can still get the kind of results you want, if you have good enough communication skills to balance things out. Just focus on your side of things.
Lesson #4: Talk to the Point. Probably the most common mistake in communication is losing the attention of the people you’re talking to, because you’ve stopped saying something relevant for them. Always keep your target in mind and adapt the content of your communication so it’s relevant for whoever you are talking with.
Lesson #5. Be Clear. General, fuzzy words don’t have much practical use in communication. They’re mostly a way of talking without saying much. Focus on using very specific and precise words when you talk, in order to present your thoughts in as a precise manner as you can. This improves your chance to be understood and to be convincing when you interact with others.
Lesson #6. Ask! I can’t even begin to describe how much most people sabotage themselves in communication by not asking clearly for the things they want. We tend to avoid expressing our own needs or wants, or we fail to express them clearly. Instead, we hope that someone will simply address our needs and wants the way we want. This is a terrible strategy. If you want something, ask for it clearly. That’s what confident and effective people do.
Lesson #7: Be Yourself. Communication can be used as a way to create a false impression about yourself. And this has some benefits but overall, it is just another bad strategy in relating with others. Instead, use communication as a way to express your true self, without regrets and without excuses. Authentic communication is the way to build great partnerships and overall, and to get the best results.
Lesson #8: Listen Instead of Assuming. We will often stop listening to what a person has to say when her words seem familiar and we think we know what else she has to say. But we often jump to the wrong conclusions, and we end up misunderstanding others. Each person has unique experiences, and they will express them in unique ways. Listen to them instead of assuming before you respond.
Lesson #9: Don’t Argue for the Sake of Arguing. This is something I see all the time: a person expresses an opinion and another person who has a different opinion instantly contradicts them. There is no practical benefit in converting this person to their side, and it’s improbable that they will, but they stubbornly try nonetheless. There are times to argue, when there is practical value in doing this. But these are the exceptions rather than the rules.
Lesson #10. Smile! It’s such a simple act, which can communicate so many positive things, and can brighten up somebody’s day. Smiling is generally the act of the confident and the happy. It creates subtle but powerful effects and it’s something I recommend that you practice consciously each day.
And of course, whatever lessons you put into practice in your communication, remember to enjoy the process. It can be as meaningful as the destination of having cutting edge communication skills.

Vision of Leadership

“The very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision. It's got to be a vision you articulate clearly and forcefully on every occasion.”
